first sergeant Samuel Kaye Solomon Elementary School was officially dedicated on November 11th 1969 Veterans Day a real-life hero first sergeant Solomon was an enlisted member of the Wolfhounds from the US Army's 25th Infantry he earned numerous medals for his courageous efforts in Saving wounded members of his company in the Vietnam War 6 years ago we were in conversation with the federal government on this project that had we were about 36 on the list and so we patiently waited through our list and about two years ago we were able to start the full on we had a groundbreaking ceremony and now a fabulously in two years which is really unheard of in the states we have the most Innovative state-of-the-art facility for a kids the best of the federal government the best of the state government really working together to give our children what they deserve amazing to me at the me the education of the future generation is so needed a remarkable of this is remarkable like me that used to live here at Schofield and I went to halekula elementary school when we used to live here we used to drive by the school almost everyday and every few * my dad will say first sergeant Solomon that school right there was my my first sergeant in Vietnam he was a great Soldier the thing there is is the connection between our community and Hawaii as well as with the Department of Defense there's a lot of time such as myself between growing up here in Hawaii as well as being a product of the Hawaii Department of Education and having that personal family connection with our first sergeant Solomon in for Sergeants all in his dedication to his comrades and service to his country we can find many of the values we feel are important to ourselves and our families today
