Principal's Message

Fall 2019
Aloha Solomon Students, Parents and Guardians!
Welcome to a new school year and a very special school year it is!! For this is the 50th
anniversary of 1SG Samuel K. Solomon Elementary School and the opening of our brand new,
Federal/State funded school, partially fulfilling a project granted over 6 years ago. Aren’t we all
the luckiest ever!

Thank you, parents, for helping us out with a GREAT OPENING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!! We
appreciate all of your support in getting to know our new building and procedures! We want to
especially note the supportive families who have been using our new drop off areas at both the
Kaena Community Center (7:15-8 am drop-off) and our “back gate” entrance/exit and drop off
area which opens from 7-8:15 am! We also want to send a shout out to our Island Palm
Communities partners and especially those at the Kaena Community Center who have been so
responsive to our needs throughout this building process.

Remember parents, we have just started year 3, of a 4 year school improvement project, which
is slated for completion in the summer of 2021. We are soooo very sorry that we have to build
the remaining Bld. D, our covered play court, first and then the front parking lot can get started
and hopefully finished by the end of this school year/beginning of the next.

In November, we will be welcoming a very special and honored guest to help us celebrate our
50th anniversary! She is none other than Mrs. Virginia Solomon, wife of 1SG Samuel K.
Solomon, who is now 83 and lives in Sandy, Utah! She will have time to visit with the students
on the Friday before Veteran’s Day and then we will have a lovely ceremony to dedicate and
celebrate our new campus!

So parents …pls keep up the positive suggestions for improvement which you can send through
our Face Book page. We have already used your suggestions to improve what we do and things
are flowing smoothly! Don’t forget to take time to get to know your teacher and all the other
support personnel we have on campus.

If you would like to volunteer at SES, please get hooked up with our PCNC/Transition Center
personnel, Ofelia Leon and Irlane Roderiguez @ 808-305-1832.

Mahalo and have a wonderful year @ SES!!
