Why is Environmental Education Important?

"Environmental education is a life-long learning process that helps individuals , communities, and organizations learn more about the environment and explore environmental issues to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between humans and the environment. This also develops critical thinking skills that enables responsible decision making and environment activism. The environment is one thing all of us share as all of humanity relies on it"

Environmental Education at Solomon:

This is the first year Environmental Science is being offered at Solomon Elementary as an Essentials class. Students will be exposed to various environmental practices through gardening, recycling, observations, discussions and hopefully will be inspired to take upon environmentally responsible practices. Our class is supported by the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaiʻi. It aims to provide students with hands-on experiences that will enhance their appreciation for and understanding of their environment so they will be lifelong stewards of the earth.
