All About Me

Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!

 

My name is Ms. Jaquez and I am a 5th grade teacher here at Solomon Elementary School.  I am originally from Brooklyn, New York and I moved to Hawaii last summer with my family. I have an advanced teaching license here in Hawaii. I hold a bachelor's degree in Sociology and a minor in Latino, Latin American & Caribbean studies.  I also have a dual master's degree in Childhood Education (1-6) and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (K-12) from St. John's University.

 

An interesting fact about me is I am a career changer from a pre-law track.  I have been a teacher for the past 12 years. I taught in NYC for 10 years as a self-contained ENL instructor and this is my second year at Solomon.  In my time here, I have had various roles including Student Success Coach, ENL teacher, and Instructional Coach (3-5).  I am a loving, compassionate, and dedicated educator.  I am fully committed to the social and academic growth and development of every child. I look forward to continuous learning and a fun-filled year of making memories together!
