Annual Off-Campus Evacuation Drill

On Thursday, March 15, 2018 (at around 8:30AM, weather permitting), Solomon Elementary School in partnership with the US Army Garrison Hawaii will be conducting its annual off campus evacuation drill exercise.

2018 District Science Fair

Eight of our fifth graders' science experiments were entered in the District Science Fair. There was a total of 7 schools and 34 participants. Our student scientists were interviewed by multiple judges from various community partners. They also took part in a fun STEM activity. Student participants in the fair were Cohen C., Noah H., Jayla W., Benjamin B., Dylan J., Jovilyn A., Ricardo A., and Mya S.

Read Across America

Solomon celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2nd. Guests from our community read books to our students. The community members included soldiers from Schofield, Leilehua High School's National Honor Society, Diamond Darlings, Representative Lauren Matsumoto, Mr. Brandon Smith, and Mr. Wayne Yoshino. Thank you to all of our guests!

Read-Aloud Revival

On March 2, 2018 from 3:30 - 5:00, Solomon School will be hosting a Read-Aloud Revival. There will be free books, door prizes, cookies and milk and a photo booth. Admission is one gently used book.

Reservations for this event are to be returned to Mrs. Amy Denzer by February 26, 2018.

New School Construction Update

Our new school construction project is coming along. This $93M project will result in our students having a state-of-the-art facility for learning and exploration. Here are some updates:
· The new cafeteria building walls are beginning to go up
· Construction material deliveries are taking place from the Carpenter Street entrance between the hours of 9:00AM - 1:30PM.
· Anticipate roadwork being conducted along Carpenter Street for tie-in of underground utility lines.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding. The students, faculty, and staff are so excited and looking forward to the possibilities.

New Playground Equipment Installation

We are fortunate to receive new playground equipment for our students during the school construction. Pictures will be posted of the installation progress. In the meantime, students are reminded to respect the orange fencing and yellow caution tape surrounding the work areas. Moreover, no one is allowed to touch or enter the work area until the playground equipment has been cleared for usage and everyone is trained for safe use.

AVID Career Day

Solomon students enjoyed learning about careers in the military, medical, electrical, performing arts and technology fields, as well as careers in the police and fire departments. Central District Spelling Bee

Students Cohen Cross and Tavon Washington participated in the Central District Spelling Bee at Mililani Middle School on February 8, 2018. Our fourth and fifth grader competed against 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
