Seed and Serve Hawaii: Grow Your Own At-Home Garden

Let’s get growing! Youth across Hawaiʻi are invited to participate in Seed and Serve Hawaiʻi, a youth at-home gardening campaign to grow the next generation of sustainability leaders across our islands. K-12 students, families, schools, and youth-serving organizations can register to receive a seed packet to begin growing their own at-home garden (1 packet per student). Gardening and growing food is a clear path forward to growing sustainable, peaceful and healthier communities and we’re excited to see your plants! DOE Summer Feeding Program

The Grab-and-Go school meals program will be extended by four days beyond the end of the school year through June 3. HIDOE will transition to its summer food service program, the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) on June 4. Currently, there are 35 participating public school sites that will be offering breakfast and lunch. Families are advised to verify if their school locations will be serving meals on June 4 before visiting. To help supplement the Department’s efforts, sponsor sites at public agencies, churches and nonprofit organizations will also serve meals to children at other locations throughout the summer. The HIDOE’s SSO program runs through July 17. A list of sites is available here.

Online Registration for Students NEW to the Hawaii Department of Education

To complete online registration for your child, you will need to upload mandatory documents. If you are unable to upload a valid photo id, Form SIS10W, child's birth certificate and proof of address (full lease agreement), you cannot use this method to enroll your child. This is an updated list as of May 4, 2020. The food pantries, prepared meals, and mass distribution sites are highlighted for the Wahiawa/Mililani communities. Please call the site before going to ensure that they are open, as information is quickly changing.
