What is May Day?
Spring is celebrated on May Day, May 1st, all around the world, but only in Hawaii is Lei Day a cultural and historical celebration. For elementary school kids, May Day is a day where parents come to see their children perform songs and represent the (major) islands of Hawaii in a school court. Even though it's a fun day, it's also a history lesson through song and dance.
