Letter to Our Families From Principal Omalza

Dear Solomon Parents and Guardians,
We’re in our last week of April and many of feel as if life has been put on hold! Please know that our Solomon ohana (family) are here for you.!! Many of you have reached out to our teachers already with concerns regarding your child. Thanks for that! We are here to work with you to help YOU make the best decisions for your child.

Please remember that our entire nation of students is going to be in the same situation of having missed a quarter of school. Wherever you child starts school in the 2020-21 school year, educators across the nation will be assessing students as they return, like they do every year, and teachers will know where your child stands academically, and make a plan to move forward! Remember, we know that our military children are resilient and they will make the adjustments, as they have with your other military moves. Let’s give our children time to recover their skills; as TIME will be the healer of this COVID 19.

Solomon Elementary’s Administration decision to meet our Continuity of Learning during this COVID 19 time online rather than packets may have its concerns. Know that, like all our places of business, Solomon ES has to put the safety of its students and employees first. So please take time to look through the resources we have provided on our website! Use some of these resources to interact with your family…take a field trip on Discovery Ed and do some art with Mrs. Erica Villarreal or have fun with performing arts activities with Mrs. Amanda Craig and there is even science lessons you can do with Mrs. Lauren Nishimoto!! So go ahead and try out some of these resources and make learning FUN at home!

We realize that many of you are awaiting orders and will be PCSing soon. Please contact your teacher to let them know of the move. We have developed an “email” exiting process that will make this easier for you; in this time of social distancing!
My next letter will include our SES Exit Plan that includes the picking up of your child’s items from school and closing out of the 2019-20 school year! And then…”school’s out for summer!”

Of course, we don’t know much about how all will look starting next school year but know that all of our educators in HIDOE are hard at work planning how to keep us all safe; yet back in school…2020-2021!!

Remember families…we are here for you!
Working from home; but here for you,
Sally Omalza
