Dear B114 Families,

Aloha and welcome to 1st grade!  I am so happy to have met you and your child at Device Pick Up last week. This will be an unprecedented year as school begins virtually for the first time ever. I will be doing my best navigating these programs alongside your child. I appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding! You can email or message me on Class Dojo if you have any questions or need support. Thank you for all you do to help your child know the value of education and become community contributors and problem solvers!  It may be bumpy at times, but I know we will get through this together ~ wiser, kinder, better.

Much Aloha,
Ms. Nakama
Aloha B114 Families,

I hope this finds you safe and healthy! Mahalo for your patience and support during this ever-changing pandemic situation.  The 1st grade teachers have put together some enrichment activities for your child. These "Learning Resources" can be found on the right. Click on Links and you'll be on your way!

I hope your family can use this time to make some great memories together - reading books, cooking, playing games, dancing & singing. Please stay well - physically, mentally, emotionally. Remind your child to do Mindfulness breathing, stretching, and meditating exercises, anytime they feel like they need it. GoNoodle will help as well.  If there is anything else I can help you with, please don't hesitate to reach out to me on Remind.

A hui hou,
Ms. Nakama
Aloha!

I'm so happy to be working with you and your child this year! In first grade, we strive to become stronger readers, independent learners, and problem solvers. Please come see me if you have any questions, concerns or just want to chat. You can jot me a note as well. Another great way to get in touch with me is through the "Remind" text messaging service. Just opt in when you receive the notification. By working together (parent, child, & teacher), we can achieve more.

P.E. at Home

Here are some ideas for doing P.E. at home. Go to YouTube and search for "Fresh Start Fitness First Grade PE".   It's a series of video clips mixing up high-intensity movements with some dance clips.  Another YouTube workout to try is "playpennies joe wicks". Get up & get moving today!

Welcome to a new school year!

Aloha E104 Parents and Students,
The 2016-17 school year is off to a great start! The children have been learning new routines and procedures.  They've already made some progress in their reading levels . . . very exciting!  Math is also going well.  We look forward to even more learning, more growing. Thank you for supporting your child's education! You are the key to     his or her success!

Here's to a great year!
Ms. Michele Nakama
