Aloha and Welcome to B124 Kindergarten at Solomon Elementary School!  My name is Ms. Kanahele. Here is a little about me. I grew up here on O’ahu and graduated from Kaimuki high school.  I attended the University of Hawai’i at Manoa and received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with minors in Early childhood and Hawaiian Studies.  I taught my first 21 years on Kaua'i in Hawaiian Immersion and as the tech coordinator.  Nine years ago I moved back home to O’ahu. I am excited to be teaching kindergarten here at Solomon for the sixth year.

I look forward to working with your child.  I will strive to do all that I possibly can to facilitate their learning this year here in the classroom as well as online to prepare them for first grade. Remember that you are your child’s first teacher and will always be the most important person in their life. If your child sees your enthusiasm for learning they will be enthusiastic to learn. Over the next few weeks I will share with you some helpful hints of things you can do at home to help your child succeed here at school.  Together we will build a bridge between home and school, which will prepare your child for their future school years.

I believe that communication between home and school is essential! You may contact me anytime at school 305-1800, e-mail at donna.kanahele@k12.hi.us or through Class Dojo which we will set up soon.
Thank you for your support and cooperation in the months to come. I am looking forward to this year of fun times with your child, learning all we can in the short time we will have together.
Sincerely,
Ms. Kanahele
