Major General Charlie Flynn senior sander for United States Army Hawaii our children our future it's a Timeless saying that certainly holds true today which is why we need to ensure the next generation of great communities and for nation  there are many potential influences out there that can have an impact on your children's education but none are powerful than parents when it comes to making a difference every day counts and Educators who work with are they shared their support and understanding for the challenges that military families face they've also shared with me for areas where they need our help first parent participation and parent-teacher conferences attendance at these conferences tyrannical in order to be part of our children's education environment  I'm asking commanders at all levels to provide Soldiers the opportunity to attend their children parent-teacher conferences parental involvement in a child's education is the biggest investment that pays large dividends As Leaders it's our responsibility need to ensure that our soldiers in the families have the opportunity to achieve academic excellence second reinforcing positive relationships between parents students and Educators there have been a number of instances in which both students when parents have exhibited Behavior not appropriate for the school environment  shoulders are professionals and we represent the Army each and every time we interact with others in our community our children see and follow our example so we have a responsibility to ensure that they see adults treating each other with dignity and fact I stand ready as do all leaders in the United States Army Hawaii to support our schools efforts to maintain order and discipline both with the stew and their parents third attendance just as soldiers are expected to be present where do children need to be in school in order to learn this is a no-brainer if you want to score you have to be in the game  there's no doubt that Taylor attendance is absolutely necessary to ensuring academic success the Hawaii Department of Education developing measures to take strong action for chronic S&T ISM and we will support their efforts School attendance is one of the most powerful predictors of Student Success and we all need to help children military families strive for excellence and when it comes to learning every day counts lastly each year Federal survey cards are distributed to every public school student as part of the federal impact aid program these cards equal money and additional services children  the survey cards provide information to the US Department of Education and the Department of Defense for the federal government to reimburse school districts that lose property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt federal property including military installations and other Federal lands These funds are used for teacher salaries school programs textbooks equipment and supplies the survey information also determines the connected students in the public school system and may determine funding from additional sources for programs that can benefit military students there's a lot of committed parents and Educators out there working together to make a difference for the children in our community let's do our part to ensure that our children are successful by being engaged in education please work with your child's teachers and the Army's on officers if you have any concerns Way Comes to education for a children's future every day counts
